Things That Are (Temporarily) Relevant

These are the stories that I have written recently (in the past 6 or 7 months). I am not able to be as productive as I'd like due to other academic restraints tugging at my brain now and again. What I do end up creating, however, I am very pleased with. These are a departure from my previous "efforts." As opposed to being more objective and voyeuristic, these stories are more subjective and involved (most being in the 1st person). I'd like to say that they are bordering on metaphysic, but I would probably retract any mention of it because I think you are supposed to actually have a moderate amount of integrity to actually devote yourself to a genre (which I'm not sure I would want to do anyway). Take them for what they are and nothing else.

My Brother Joe
(Read aloud at The University of St. Thomas in Houston, TX in November 2000)
This is a revision of Sebastian and Joe, a story that I wrote the summer before I entered college.

Delusions of Grandeur
(Read aloud at The University of St. Thomas in Houston, TX in December 2000)
I am extremely proud of this story but am uncomfortable reading it. So what better way to deal with this than to post it on the Internet? Enjoy opening up my chest cavity with garden sheers and a magnifiying glass...

Tuesday
A short, intense little story about a young man waking up and watching television all day. I'd like to think this story says a lot about modern existance, but that might be pushing it...
